Open up Blender and delete everything if you want. We need to use a plugin that will generate mountains for us. So go to File - User Preferences - Addons. Look for (or type in) the addon ‘ANT Landscape’. Enable by checking the box on the right (near the scared-looking human figure). Close the User Preferences window. Feb 24, 2018.

BlenderEngine writes:

The tutorial demonstrates how how generate a costume terrain inside Blender 2.8 using Blender's generated cloud images that act as a height map to create the landscape look. Additionally, you can customize the scale and the amount of details of the terrain depending on what look you're aiming for. Great for building large terrains for films and games in Unity3D and Armory

Steps in the video:

  1. Add a plane. Subdivide it into 60k+ vertices
  2. Add displace modifier. Create new image.
  3. Set the midlevel to 0. Strength to about 0.2 - 0.5
  4. Open textures tab, select clouds.
  5. Set the scale and detail to your liking
  6. Enable color ramp for further adjustments.
  7. White represents the highs. Black is the low levels.

No need to dig through folders to install addons...

• There is no need to go rooting around your computer's folders to install an addon. Blender installs addons in different places depending on the operating system. This means different instructions for different computers which makes the install process so much more ridiculous than it needs to be (when installing this way).
• Even if you find the right folder, it's all for nothing! You still have to access Blender's User Preferences window to activate the addon. Addons in Blender can be selected, imported and activated all from the same screen.
• All addons can be easily installed right from within Blender. The one catch is knowing when to select a .py or a .zip when installing.

1. Open Blender & select the 'File' menu.

Under 'File' select 'User Preferences'. Select the 'Add-ons' tab at the top of the user preferences window then select 'Install From File' at the bottom of the window.

2. Select the right file type.

Some addons must be installed by directly selecting the Python (.py) file while others can only be installed as a zip file. If you don't find a folder with '__init__.py' inside of it, and instead find something like this 'someAddon.py' then it means you have to unzip it first so you can select 'someAddon.py' when installing.

3. Browse through your computer.

After pressing 'Install From File' you'll be taken to Blender's file manager where you can browse through your computer's folders to select the addon. Once you've selected the right file press 'Install From File' again (this time in the top right corner).

4. Check the box.

Once installed, check the small box next to the addon to activate it. Press 'Save User Settings' near the bottom left corner of the user preferences window before you go. This ensures the addon will stay activated.

Blendersensei.com Addon Distribution Policy:

All addons from blendersensei.com will now be distributed in '.zip' format only. We hope other developers follow suit and help do away with the general confusion surrounding addon installation in Blender.
Reasons for choosing the zip method:
Less work to install (you don't have to bother unzipping first).

More functionality (zipped addons can house multiple files).

NOTE: Some addons (such as Drag & Drop Environments) come with additional assets which require the overall package to first be unzipped. If you see the words 'UNZIP_ME' in the name of a zip file, you should unzip it. If not, then that's the thing you select if installing an addon.
